Artist Statement

With my art, I seek to explore issues in contemporary society, especially those  factors    impacting women.

I like to poke, prod and examine how our society works and how we interact with the environment and with each other.

My art dwells on notions of beauty, ageing, perfection and character and what we choose to value.

In my painting I respond to these issues in a contemporary style which utilises a rich, sophisticated and evocative palette.  I prefer my work to reside in the space between abstraction and realism – the images are often drawn from life and my own photography, but often enlarged, cropped or framed in such a way as to be somewhat ambiguous.
