Beautiful Decay

My beautiful decay series of oil paintings and artist books explore notions of beauty, ageing, perfection and character. It is in response to our society’s fixation with youthfulness, botox & plastic surgery and the hyper-critical way women are judged and pass judgement on themselves and each other.

I use beautifully decaying but still living leaf forms, as a metaphor for the ageing process.
