This series of oil paintings continue my investigation into ageing and beauty and whether we as a society value the stories and character that time instils on a surface – both human and man made.
In this work, I am using as inspiration the hull of a shipwrecked boat (courtesy of Cyclone Wilma), that I came upon in a remote Mexican Bay, in the Caribbean. I loved her colours, her defiant positioning on the sand, the many layers of paint and damage shown on the hull and the way the ships name could be cropped to imply any variety of words and meanings.
